This is the simplest search form code I know and the good thing is it is HTML and you can therefore add it anywhere on your blog.It can also be modified using simple CSS style.
How to add it
Log in to blogger and go to layout and then page elements
Go to add gadget and select HTML/javascript
Next paste the code below
<form id="searchThis" action="/search" style="display:inline;" method="get"><input id="searchBox" name="q" type="text"/> <input id="searchButton" value="Go" type="submit"/></form>
And then save and you are finished and you will now have a beautiful search form like the one I have.The advantage of this search form is that it shows results on your page so if you have ads they increase your page impressions and possibly your clicks.
